How do I join?

Fill out the “Contact Us” form on the home page or stop by the firehouse on any Monday at 7 PM and we will help get you started on the application process.

Do I need experience to join?

No prior experience required! All required training will be completed in company drills and at the fire academy.

What is the age requirement to join?

You need to be 18 years of age to be eligible for active membership. We also offer a Junior firefighter program for those aged 14-17. Junior members will have the opportunity to learn about the fire service but will not be put in danger.

Do I have to pay for training or gear?

No, all relevant training is free and gear will be issued to you.

When is your meeting night?

Regular meetings, drills, and work details take place at the firehouse on Monday nights at 7 PM

How many calls do you get in a year?

Freewood Acres Fire Company is called to between 500 – 600 emergencies per year

How big is your response area?

District 5 is roughly 15 square miles in the center of Howell Township, but we commonly run mutual aid calls to the 4 other Howell fire districts as well as Jackson and Freehold.

Where is the firehouse located?

The firehouse is located at 17 E 5th St. Howell, NJ. Near the intersection of US Highway 9 and Interstate 195.
